Diet and Nutrition

In this lesson we take a closer look at the average diet and talk about some of the foods and additives that should be avoided. We discuss wether gluten sensitivity is a real problem or simply a fashionable dietary trend? Recent research has highlighted the importance of gut health and pro biotics. We will take a closer look at the work of world famous functional medicine practitioners Dr Mark Hyman, Dr Natasha Campbell Mc Bride and Trudy Scott.

Meditation

The importance of meditation is now being recognized by top sports psychologists and many elite athletes and footballers are now incorporating it into their training programs.

In this lesson we ask the questions what exactly is meditation and how can it benefit your physical well-being and lower stress and cortisol levels? We will also discuss different ways to incorporate healthy meditation practices into a daily routine.

Mindfulness

This lesson looks at the differences between mindfulness and meditation and how it can also be used to overcome stress and anxiety. Students will be introduced to the 'Wheel of awareness' developed by Dr Daniel Seigel. We will also examine the work of mindfulness trainer, lecturer and coach, Shamash Alidina.

Breathwork for health and relaxation

For this lesson we talk about the importance of breath-work and how it can improve your health and help you relax. We will look at the work of world famous breath-work gurus James Nestor and Wim Hof. We will also discuss how breathing techniques can be used at home or in the workplace at any time throughout the day.

Exercise and fitness methods

It is assumed that most people are already aware of the importance of exercise. For that reason we discuss different methods of exercise that can be done in the office or at home and without any gym equipment. We will also discuss the concept of exercise snacking", how to work out without any muscle soreness and the stop start running method for beginners.

How to get better quality sleep

Most people know instinctively that good quality sleep is one of the most important aspects of good health. Productivity wether in the workplace or at home is directly correlated to the amount and type of sleep we get each night. Research shows however that large numbers of people suffer with sleep issues or do not get the recommended 8 hours a night. In this module we take a closer look at how what we do in the day directly impacts our ability to achieve good quality sleep at night. We also debunk some of the myths that surround sleep quality and we also look at the latest research.

Stoic philosophy for better health

This lesson focuses on Stoic philosophy and how it can help achieve a more positive state of mind and lower stress levels. We will also be looking at the work of internationally renowned author and podcaster Ryan Halliday. Finally, we will listen to an interview with former world tennis champion Boris Becker speaking about how Stoicism helped him survive one of the toughest prisons in the UK.

How to organize your life more effectively

We believe that one of the best ways to achieve a happier and calmer state of mind is to create a less chaotic, more structured and goal oriented lifestyle. We will discuss various ways to achieve this and we will also take a look at the bestselling book Atomic Habits by James Clear.
